There are some major and minor changes made in the Apple’s MacBook line of laptops. MacBook Pro is the new addition from Apple with unibody aluminum construction and large multitouch trackpad. There are some changes made in the internal components of the system. These models are available in 15 and 17 inches using Core-I CPUs. You can find Core i5 which is a mainstream and Core i7 which is high end version. New chipset architecture required for these versions and also for using NVIDIA GeForce 9400 to the built in integrated graphics of Intel.

There is 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM used in the 15 inches MacBook Pro with 2.66GHz Core i7 processor. The discrete graphics are provided with Nvidia GeForce GT330M. It is expensive but there are faster and more powerful components added to the system. The Core i7 processor of the system is extremely impressive. There is thin outer shell used in the MacBook Pro with strong chassis providing good solid and substantial feel and look. The body type of the system is also impressive.

There are multitouch gestures used in the large trackpad for much of the functionality. The touch controls of the MacBook are very important. The sweeping moves with the four fingers is very good multitouch gesture. The application switcher comes with right or left and it can also hide the active window. There is small behavioral tweak used in the MacBook Pro version which is called inertial scrolling. The page scrolling has become very easy with the flick of the two fingers up and down and it will continue to move even if the fingers are left.

There is 1440 x 900 native resolution offered on the 15.4 wide screen. You can also have the option of higher resolution of 1680 x 1050 for HD videos and digital cameras. There is SD card slot included in this version of MacBook Pro. You can also upgrade the 500GB from 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm and also use SSD drive from 128GB to 512GB. RAM can also be upgraded from 4GB to 8GB as well. There is automatic graphics switching used in the sytem with optimum graphics switching technology of Nvidia. The system can switch to the Nvidia GeForce 330 for the applications requiring integrated graphics. You can be able to play current PC games easily with GeForce 330M which is available in 256 and 512MB. You can take the advantage of switching between GPUs to enjoy HD videos.

The good:

It is efficient with Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, NVIDIA graphics and discrete GPUs.

The Bad:

It is at the top end of price scale, no Blue-ray, HDMI or high end options.

The bottom line:

The look and feel of Apple’s 15 inch MacBook is the same but there are some internal changes made like Core i7 processor is used which has made it good portable powerhouse.
